The Manitoba Government has announced – suspending child care services at licensed child-care centres, effective end-of-day Friday, March 20 to Tuesday, April 14. The government’s plan will continue to allow home-based providers to operate: and create dedicated child-care options for front-line and essential services staff who need them.
Parents are encouraged to self-identify as essential service providers in the health care, law enforcement and emergency response sectors (e.g. nurses, health care aides, hospital cleaning staff, police, paramedics, etc.) and to identify their child care needs. This information will help the Manitoba government plan for critical child care services to ensure that there is no disruption to essential services.
If you are unable to make other childcare arrangements, please take the time to complete the form available in your child’s classroom before the end of the day Thursday, March 19.
We would like to thank all parents who have voluntarily decided to keep their children home during this time. This action assists us in efforts to follow the government recommendations regarding “social distancing”. We note that the government is also recommending parents begin to make alternate arrangements as soon as possible, even though centres will remain open for the remainder of the week.
